Maeve’s 100K Milestone for Marymount!
Over 400 stylish women gathered yesterday in Dwyer’s of Cork for a charity ‘Sex in the City’ themed event called ‘Sunday in the City’. The event, which was organised by Maeve Dennehy from Love Cherish Boutique in Charleville Cork, and sponsored by Dwyer’s of Cork, raised over €45,000 for Marymount University Hospital and Hospice.
Marymount Hospice holds a very special place in Maeve’s heart because of the care they gave both her Mum and sister, before they both passed away. Over the last number of years, Maeve has actively used her social media platforms to raise awareness and much needed funds for the hospice.
“Maeve selflessly gives of her time in memory of her wonderful mum and her lovely sister who availed of our services. The funds raised go directly to the delivery and enhancement of patient and family care in Marymount. It enables us to provide highly complex care to those with a life limiting illness, irrespective of age or diagnosis and irrespective of place” said Diane Magee, Marymount Hospice.
This is not the first of Maeve’s fundraising activities for Marymount Hospice. In 2018, right before Maeve’s Mums diagnosis, she held an in-person event for over 600 women which raised over €25,000 and was hosted by Sile Seoige. In 2020 she also raised over €32,000 with the ‘Masks for Marymount’ online campaign. Collectively her tremendous ongoing endeavours have resulted in a staggering target, that has been reached, of over €100,000 for the charity.
The busy mother of two, who recently launched her own clothing label, Oh Molly, was only delighted to hit the ground running again as soon as the restrictions were lifted.
“I will never be able to fully express what Marymount means to me and my family and I was determined to reach the 100K mark this year. So I was delighted to do an in-person event again. Tara and the team at Dwyer’s have gone above and beyond to support this event and I am so grateful for everyone’s support’’ added Maeve.
It seems she wasn’t the only one who wanted to get back to in-person events; the ‘Style in the City’ event tickets sold out in 4 minutes. There was an outpouring of support also from a range of businesses across the county who generously donated prizes for raffles.
“We were honoured to host this superb fundraiser for Marymount & what a way to celebrate with so many ladies for an evening of fashion, fun, cocktails and fantastic entertainment. What an achievement by Maeve who has reached her target of €100k for Marymount, an incredible feat.” Added Tara Lyng, Dwyers of Cork.
